The School
Welcome to the School of Evangelism
Hello and welcome to our free and informal School! If you are looking to be more successful in leading people to Jesus, we are here to equip and release you in ways that are both inspirational and enjoyable. You will not hear phrases such as “Get out of your comfort zone!” in our teaching. After a lifetime spent leading others to Christ, our speciality is in helping people discover what works best for them. If you choose to walk this journey with us, you will find you can lead people to Jesus whilst remaining true to who you are as an individual. Jesus called us to be fishers of souls, and we are confident that anyone can follow this call with a little help and encouragement. The fact that you are looking at the school shows you already have the heart to lead people to Jesus, which is a great start!
Where is the School, and How Does it Work?
The school can be anywhere you want it to be! The school is not a school in the traditional sense. It’s a set of teaching resources to equip individuals, groups, and churches in personal Evangelism. You can use these accessible life-based teachings freely in the way that best suits your circumstances. You’ll notice our logo symbols include a Heart and a Key. The teachings provide you with a whole selection of tried and tested keys that you can use to help open up people’s hearts to Jesus.
The Books and Materials
The teaching can be followed as an individual or as a group, either online or in person. The materials are provided on this website in both written and audio formats. You may listen, download, copy, and print as much as you like at no cost or restriction. If you want printed copies, just get in touch with us. The first two books, Chain Reaction and Populating Heaven, form the teaching material for Evangelism. Book three, Choosing Heaven, is a resource to give out to those who are exploring faith and includes a summarised easy-read version of the gospels. Finally, the fourth book, The Journey, is for those who have just accepted Jesus or who want to know more. It gives accessible introductions to Prayer, the Bible, etc. All the material is easy to read, and the teaching is based on real-life, everyday testimony, which is accessible to everyone! As soon as you begin to read, you will be inspired and encouraged.
An Important Story
This story will give you hope and encouragement. It is borrowed from author John Eldredge and represents our way of teaching.
Since being a young boy, John had always had a dream to take up fly fishing, only later in life did he get the opportunity. He bought all the best tackle and headed out with high hopes to a river well known for its trout. He shares:
“Every time I looked up the river there was this guy, rod bent double, laughing and whooping as he brought in yet another giant trout to his net. I decided to watch him for a while and try to learn how he was doing it. I went up the bank and stood at a respectful distance. He became aware of me. ‘Come down,’ he called and then asked me how I was doing. ‘Not good,’ I replied with feeling. ‘Let me see your fishing tackle,’ he invited. I handed him my rod. ‘Oh well, first of all your leader isn’t long enough.’ He tied me on a new one. ‘Next, you are using the wrong flies for this time of year.’ He fixed on one of his. ‘Come over here, right next to me and I will show you how to fish. Success in fly fishing depends on many things but mainly you have to get a DEAD DRIFT. You have to be able to present your fly naturally to the fish, letting it drift down the current in the same way as the real food they see every day. Now listen! THERE IS TO BE NO TUGGING OR PULLING AGAINST THE CURRENT.’ He coached me for a while and then said, ‘Now I will watch you.’ In a short time, I was thrilled to catch my own fish. ‘Have fun,’ he said. And I did.”
This story represents our way of teaching evangelism. Come alongside us, watch and learn. The evangelism we demonstrate is gentle and kind, sensitive and doesn’t cause offence. It is undertaken with respect, and it is relational. You will see people healed physically and emotionally, and people come to faith.
